Delhi News Today: Newly elected BJP MP from New Delhi parliamentary constituency Bansuri Swaraj fiercely attacked AAP leader and her opponent in the Lok Sabha elections, Somnath Bharti. She said that Somnath Bharti has lost in this Lok Sabha election, but he is having difficulty digesting this defeat.

BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj taunted that there is a question mark on whether her party will give her a ticket in the upcoming elections or not. She said that I am not going to bow down to any lie of the Aam Aadmi Party, they have woven a bundle of lies.

‘I will answer every question in the notice in court’
On the petition filed in the High Court through former MLA and AAP leader Somnath Bharti, Bansuri Swaraj said, “Despite being a sitting MLA, he lost the assembly elections. If the court issues a notice, I will answer each of his questions in the court.”

In fact, AAP leader Somnath Bharti has filed a petition in the High Court raising questions on the election of BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj in the Lok Sabha elections. Somnath Bharti has challenged Bansuri Swaraj’s election victory in the High Court on the basis of alleged corrupt conduct. The hearing on this matter will be held in the court of Justice Manmeet PS Arora on Monday (22 July).

Bansuri Swaraj defeated Bharti in the election
It is worth mentioning that in the recent Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party had made a clean sweep by winning all the seven Lok Sabha seats of the capital Delhi. BJP had fielded Bansuri Swaraj, daughter of former Union Minister Sushma Swaraj, from the New Delhi parliamentary constituency. She waved the flag of victory here.

Newly elected MP Bansuri Swaraj defeated AAP candidate Somnath Bharti. Bansuri Swaraj got 4 lakh 53 thousand 185 votes from New Delhi seat while her nearest rival Somnath Bharti got 3 lakh 74 thousand 815 votes.

What did the petition say?
The petition filed in the high court said, “The present election petition is being filed by the petitioner (Somnath Bharti) under sections 80 and 81 of the Representation of the People Act, challenging the election of respondent no. 1 (Bansuri Swaraj) as a member from the New Delhi Lok Sabha seat on the ground that respondent no. 1, his election agent and other persons with the consent of the respondent have entered into an election on May 25, 2024.
